Saarland.JPGMy neighbour when at MG-Bataillon2415 views1937/1938 the MG-Bataillon2 was in the garnison at Wetzlar where my neighbour was living. It was moved to the Saarland near the french border in 1939. You can see the Saarland car signs and the tactical sign of the MG-Bataillon 2 on this picture.
My neighbour was in 3. MG-Btln2, his best friend in 2. MG-Btln2. Third was used as the core of the new build MG-Bataillon 13, while the second stayed in MG-Btln2.
MG-Btln 13 was as much north as Honningsvag.
MG-Btln 2 fought in Africa.
My mother said that she was confused when the friends meet and talked. She never understood how they could be in the same unit. It was just that they were in same unit before war.
Most pictures show my neighbour with a black overall. He was staff/technical repair as a Unteroffizier in 1938.
