AR 199 tilhørte 199. Inf Divisjon som lå i Norge stort sett hele krigen fram til april 1945 da de ble overført til Danmark. Divisjonssjef var Generalleøytnant Hans von Kempski fram til april 1942 , da Gen lt Wilhelm Reihtel overtok
