Alstertor.jpgAlstertor, former Rose497 views1938-1939 norwegian Rose. Bought by germany April 1939 and used as a supply ship. Several troup transports from Trondheim to Narvil, even one to Hammerfest. Don't know when my neighbour from MG-Btln 13 did this. Around Gneisenau repair at Trondheim? (0 votes)

BMW.JPGPortait of my neighbour479 viewsThink this photo was done when MG-Bataillon 13 was moved away from the french border to be re-organized for Weserübung at the city of Magdeburg. Normal plans were to do a quick advance from Korsör to Kopenhagen and stay there. Only the heavy losses with Blücher and other ships brought the MG-Bataillon to Norway as a quick and close (Denmark) replacement. (0 votes)

FASTNACHT1-g.JPGCarneval 1941 at Repparfjord499 viewsIt is a bit strange that even carneval parades were not really welcome by the Nazi's in germany this unit did their own far far away from home. (0 votes)

Fische.JPGfishery harbour586 viewsI think this picture belonged to a Hammerfest/Honingsvag/Repparfjord photo series. It must be taken when MG-Bataillon 13 already had the Edelweiss badges of the mountain troops but before my neighbour visited the technical inspector school in summer 1942 in germany. (0 votes)

Gneisenau2.jpgGneisenau and Huascaran432 viewsGneisenau is under repair by the repairship Huascaran. The british sub Clyde hit her in the bow section, nearly disrupting the bow.Huascaran put two steel plates at the backboard bow to stabilize the bow for the return trip to germany. You can see the plates as brighter stripes near the anchor.
The ocean camouflage is replaced by a coastal camouflage while under repair. (0 votes)

Katzen.JPGButchering cats516 viewsI don't know where and when. But there are no Edelweiss badges so MG-Bataillon 13 was not already moved to the mountain troops. I don't know why they are butchering cats. At this time of the war their wasn't hunger. Accidently shoot them while on guard? Trying to hunt and shot cats instead hares? I saw a similiar picture taken in africa, but showing an antelope. From the africa picture i know that the person was drafted before finishing his apprentice as a butcher and he had to prove his knowledge in front of a comitee to do his journeyman's examination (0 votes)

Lokken-Lager.JPG2. MG-Bataillon13 at Lökken377 viewsThe back of the photo reads Lökken. Since i have a photo of the Folketshus of Lökken i think these photos belong together. Watching this photo i think doing these ornaments needed some time. So i guess it wasn't just a short visit, but rather that the unit was placed their for a while. Anyone knows more?
