Mostly photos and photo albums captured in Norway during WWII. But there will always be section of photos and photo albums from around the world.

Most viewed - MG-Batallion13 - pictures froma diseased neighbour
NBFZ.JPGNeubaufahrzeug578 viewsNeubaufahrzeug Nr.8 (visible on main turret) near Lillehammer in april 1940. It is defect and blocks the vehicles from probably staff of MG-Batallion 13
Usling3.JPGGrave at Lillehammer553 viewsThe back of the pictures reads in old Südderlin writing: Herbert Usling(?), Lillehammer, Norway. The field post number shows him as a member of MG-Btln 13 who died at the battle around Lillehammer on 22.4.1940.
Anyone knowing the church and if the graves are still there or if not, the new location?
Folketshus.JPGLökken: Folketshus492 viewsSame photo set as the torpedoed Gneisenau, so around June 1940
Fische.JPGfishery harbour485 viewsI think this picture belonged to a Hammerfest/Honingsvag/Repparfjord photo series. It must be taken when MG-Bataillon 13 already had the Edelweiss badges of the mountain troops but before my neighbour visited the technical inspector school in summer 1942 in germany.
Leuna.JPGTrooptransporter Leuna437 viewsLeuna And Buenos Aires moved MG-Batallion 13 first to occupy Denmark and then on 17/18 April 1940 to Oslo
Katzen.JPGButchering cats435 viewsI don't know where and when. But there are no Edelweiss badges so MG-Bataillon 13 was not already moved to the mountain troops. I don't know why they are butchering cats. At this time of the war their wasn't hunger. Accidently shoot them while on guard? Trying to hunt and shot cats instead hares? I saw a similiar picture taken in africa, but showing an antelope. From the africa picture i know that the person was drafted before finishing his apprentice as a butcher and he had to prove his knowledge in front of a comitee to do his journeyman's examination
FASTNACHT2-g.JPGCarneval 1941 at Repparfjord435 views
FASTNACHT1-g.JPGCarneval 1941 at Repparfjord429 viewsIt is a bit strange that even carneval parades were not really welcome by the Nazi's in germany this unit did their own far far away from home.
Alstertor.jpgAlstertor, former Rose415 views1938-1939 norwegian Rose. Bought by germany April 1939 and used as a supply ship. Several troup transports from Trondheim to Narvil, even one to Hammerfest. Don't know when my neighbour from MG-Btln 13 did this. Around Gneisenau repair at Trondheim?
Zugfahrt.JPGAdvance following the railroad408 viewsBack reads: 'Zugfahrt' nach Andalnes
'Train travel' to Andalnes. A movie shows that the only street bridge in a valley was destroyed. So the cars had to drive on the railroad tracks.
Gladiator.JPGGladiator at Andalnes405 viewsProbably a Gladiator which was demolished at Andalnes to prevent falling into german hands.
DerDritteMann.JPGFinnmark400 viewsCreative camouflage of a MG
BMW.JPGPortait of my neighbour382 viewsThink this photo was done when MG-Bataillon 13 was moved away from the french border to be re-organized for Weserübung at the city of Magdeburg. Normal plans were to do a quick advance from Korsör to Kopenhagen and stay there. Only the heavy losses with Blücher and other ships brought the MG-Bataillon to Norway as a quick and close (Denmark) replacement.1 comments
Gneisenau2.jpgGneisenau and Huascaran378 viewsGneisenau is under repair by the repairship Huascaran. The british sub Clyde hit her in the bow section, nearly disrupting the bow.Huascaran put two steel plates at the backboard bow to stabilize the bow for the return trip to germany. You can see the plates as brighter stripes near the anchor.
The ocean camouflage is replaced by a coastal camouflage while under repair.
ROSEN4.JPGCarneval or a norwegian driving the winter out ritual371 viewsThe soldier has ski's so they had already the winter training. Repparfjord?1 comments
Reppar1.JPGRepparfjord - camp building370 viewsBeing able to read norwegian would have prevented the bandaged hands? The others look as if destroyed the booze for the winter.
